In the beginning of 2006 the people behind Denmark's leading beer bar "Ølbaren", the leading beer shop "Ølbutikken" and Ølfabrikken sat down together to plan a beer that was to be only served from tap at Ølbaren and only sold in bottles from Ølbutikken. After a night of drinking it ended up with a massive Russian Imperial Chocolate Stout using ingredients from four continents. South american Cocoa, Asian coffee, North american hops and European malts. Ølfabrikken ØL is, of course, unpasteurized, unfiltered and cask conditioned like all of our beers. Introduced on 'Københavnske Øldage 2006'.

"Pours with a black body topped by a medium thick head, brown head with some lacing. The aroma is fill of bitter chocolate and coffee with a slight smokiness and some malt. The flavor is also full of bitter chocoalte with notes an underlying sweetness, a touch of smoke and a nice roasted coffee note. This beer opens up nicely as it warms up. Full bodied and smooth."

"Bottle courtesy of thewolf: Poured a pitch-black color stout with a small dirty brown head with good retention and lacing. Aroma of coffee and light roasted malt dominated. Taste was well balance between some dry coffee notes and light black chocolate with some light roasted malt notes. Body had a creamy texture which was quite enjoyable as well as some adequate carbonation. Alcohol was not discernable. While not being blown away by this beer, I really enjoyed the experience and wouldn’t mind having this again. "

"Bottle sampled at Øbaren, Copenhagen. Opaque black with a thick brown foam. Rich aroma of espresso, tobacco, roasted malts and dark chocolate. Thick but not overly dense flavour of dark chocolate, tobacco, spices and aromatic hops. Full, creamy body. Long aftertaste of dark chocolate, tobacco and oily hops. "

"This Imperial Stout pours an eclipse black color from a 500ml swing top bottle. Small to medium sized tan foamy head. Aroma is chocolate and coffee. A medium bodied Russian Imperial Stout. Malts are chocolate and coffee, some vanilla. Nice roasty malts, chocolate and dark fruit flavors abound. Very smooth and nicely balanced Imperial Stout. Creamy texture. Nice dry finish. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet. "
