Abbaye des Rocs has full aromas of caramel, chocolate, pit fruit, and a suggestion of cellar mustiness. Luscious flavors interweaving caramel, chocolate, cherries, and a hint of coffee.

"a sweet, woody, slightly spicy ull bodied belgian ale. better flavored and cleaner than either the tripel or grand cru. maybe still a touch overrated, but quite good. fig, malt, dark fruit, spice, candi sugar? lots going on here, quite smooth...still not quite a favorite."

"Another nice offering from pfoxyjohn: Poured a bright cloudy mahogany colour again, and something noticeably different is it's not quite as sweet as the previous beer. Raisiny, caramel and noticeable alcohol on the palate. Aroma is very fine with some yeastiness. "

"I've seen this beer around for years and never picked it up until now, but I'm glad I did. A great tasting beer that was full-bodied (whenever I hear a Budweiser commercial say 'full bodied' from now on - I'll laugh) and had great taste. Malty and fruity seems to be a theme in Belgium."

"Aromas of dark fruit such as cherries, plum, fig, also yeast, caramel, and hints of bread. Appearance was a deep rootbeer brown body with loads of huge yeast flakes. The head started out large and slowly went down leaving decent lace behind. Flavors were similar to the aromas with the fruits and sweet yeasty breadiness all intermingling. Alcohol was well hidden for 9%. Overall a pretty good beer thats worth a try."

"This beer was a revelation for me...................it was amazing. My boyfriend and I shared a bottle of this dark brown brew. The aroma was yeasty with nuts and fruit tones. The mouthfeel was smooth, yet carbonated. The flavor has heaven. Liquid bread with jam on it."
