Abita Amber is a Munich style lager brewed with crystal malt and Perle hops. It has a smooth, malty, slightly caramel flavor and a rich amber color. Abita Amber was the first beer offered by the brewery and continues to be our leading seller.
It has been voted "best beer" in numerous New Orleans reader polls and is used frequently in recipes of great Louisiana chefs.

"A darker than average free spirited and easy appearance. Gallant carbonation. Taste is intriguing without being offensive. Meloncholy yet lighthearted. I don’t think this is on par with Rivertowne Last Chance Vienna Lager but it is ceratinly better than Penn Pilsner and Schell firebrick. Serene tranquil finish. Could easily drink again. "

"This Munich style lager pours an amber color with decent white head. The aroma is a mild nut-like. It has a smooth, malty, slightly caramel flavor and a thin mouth feel. Overall, very pleasant.

"I love ambers, just not this one. Not hops profile at all. I really only every drank this back in the day becase Emril would cook with it. I will tell you this, for some reason it makes great BBQ sauce."

"This beer poured a hazy coppery colour that wasn't all that appealing to the naked eye. After dressing up my eye with glasses, the lack of appeal was still present. The aroma was caramel malt, some spiciness, and a touch of hops. The flavour was stale and dead. NOthing extraordinary here."

"What is all the hype about? Man, I gave it my best shot and the benefit of the doubt. It's still slightly less than average. Will I drink it agin? Yeah, if it's offered and someone else paid for it. I won't buy it myself."
