The newest Abita brew takes its name and inspiration from the Mardi Gras Indians of New Orleans. Looking for Indians on Mardi Gras Day is a tradition for many New Orleans families. A cultural phenomenon familiar to residents of the Crescent City, the Mardi Gras Indians are not well known to outsiders and Abita is proud to help share their story with the world.

"Mild piny turpentine aroma. Yellow brown orange with a slight haze. Thin squeamish creamish head. Tastes like fresh ground up sappy pine cones and green grapefruits. . Bitter medicine. Finish that lasts for what seems forever. Just as offensive as any IPA and borders on IIPA territory. Very impressive for Abita. Has legs! 3/21/2008 5:07:38 AM"

"A rather disappointing IPA. Pours a copper color with very little white head. Aroma is missing the floral, hoppy goodness I have come to expect in a good IPA. Taste is bitter but nothing special."

"Another craft brew from Cajun country. This one is a crisply clear golden red colored ale. There isn’t much of a head though, and what there is, in it’s frothiness disappears quickly into a soapy lacing. It has body in the mouthfeel. The aroma is floral and cireus hops. The taste is a drinkable intensity of bitterness."

"Pours a clear reddish-copper color with an average sized off-white head. Aroma is floral with some hops and fruits. Sweet and fruity tasting with floral hops, a little caramel malt and a finish that is slightly bitter and dry. Light-bodied for an IPA without the aggressive hops and all of it seeming a little mild. There's nothing bad about this, just not all that exciting either. A decent session IPA. "

"This poured an orange color with a white head. The aroma is mild with some citrus mainly grapefruit and a hint of perfume. The flavor is not exactly bursting with flavor. Mild citrus notes and slightly hoppy. Overall a pretty weak IPA but ok for some session drinking anyway."
