It may sound nuts, but most ales with nutty flavors or aromas are made without any real nuts. Abita Pecan Harvest Ale is made with real Louisiana pecans. The natural oils from the nuts give the ale a light pecan finish and aroma. It's wonderful paired up with both red meats and seafood - and no suprise it's great with nuts too. Abita Pecan Harvest Ale, crack one open for yourself today.

"I am so dissapointed. I love Abita, in general. This beer really let me down. There is not a lot of nutty flavor as I anticipated. The beer itself is rather blah. I really expected more."

"Heheheh, I’m not a lover of pecans nor am i an expert on them. This has a plain old good beer aroma with no off hints. On the nose, perhaps i detect some chocolate malt and woody texture. A little hazy and brownish yellow. Fizz is below average but has a pleasant amount of carbonation. Some background bitterness on the palate, as with most ales. A little barmy farmy at times as the session continues. Not sure if the pecan flavor is really there. 2/22/2008 3:13:25 PM"

"I saw this one on the menu at RFD in Washington, DC this afternoon and had to give it a try. I really like the Abita products and I had never heard of this Pecan Harvest Ale.
I gave this one an aggressive pour into the pint glass and was greeted by a moderate tan colored brew with a finger thick, slightly off white head which disappears within a minute or two. The aroma really is not there right in the beginning. I let the beer breathe for about 5 minutes and when I revisited it, there was a toffee sweet aroma emitting from the glass that had a hint of roasted nuts to it. The aroma wasn't anything overpowering, but really was kinda of pleasant.
This beer is very drinkable and enjoyable. It is a standard amber ale with a little bit more sweetness than other amber ales. I can actually taste the roasted pecans mixed in there, but it took a few minutes of the beer sitting out and warming up before that pecan taste started to appear.
Bottom line, this is a good beer, not anything great though. It's pleasant and enjoyable and I would definitely try it again. "

"You can taste a bit of the pecans in this, but honestly, this is just a typical amber ale. It’s not that flavorful, a little nutty, and very little hop aroma or flavor. Quite quaffable, but lacking."

"This amber ale pours a medium amber color from a 12oz bottle. Small to medium sized white foamy head. Aroma is nutty, fruity and sweet. Medium to light bodied amber. The malts are fruity and sweet. The pecans add a nutty and earthy flavor to this beer. The hops are floral and earthy. This beer has a definite nuttiness to it, which sort of adds to the flavor. The “regular” Abita amber was sort of bland, the pecans add some flavor to it. It’s a little thin and watery but not to bad. Nice carbonation. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is crisp and clean. Aftertaste is slightly bitter and a touch nutty."
