"I really have no complaints at all about this ale, a very fine example of the British tradition. Brown in colour with a thin tan head. The aroma is caramel malt, some nuttiness and a small hint of hops. The nutty flavour comes through very well with a nice bitter aftertaste, hard to believe it is 6+ percent."

"500ml bottle
6.3% ABV
I tried this beer on August 1, 2008 at "Smokeless Joe's" in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The beer poured a very dark brownish red, with a thin tan head. The aroma was caramel malt, and wood. The mouthfeel was medium bodied, creamy, and medium carbonated. The flavour was caramel malt, some spice, and a little bit of hops."

"I'm warming up more and more with these English Strong Ales. An aroma of dark fruit, toffee and licorice. The flavor is really nice balanced with subtle English hops and a nice sweet malt profile which brought out some brown sugar. Finished off with a decent bitter/peppery note. Definitely would recommend this one."

"This English Strong Ale pours a deep copper color from a 12oz bottle. Medium sized white foamy head. Aroma is cherries, malt and some wood. A medium bodied strong ale. Malts are caramel and sweet, hints of raisins, dates and brown sugar. Hops are earthy and floral. Lively carbonation. Strong malt finish. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly bitter."
