"Impressive, far better than the marzen. A brown beer with red hues and brown coloured foamy head. The aroma is smoked pork, roasted malt, some caramel, and a touch of citrus. The flavour is roasted malt, smoke, and some caramelly sweetness. Loved it!"

"I had the A.S.R. marzen a few months ago and thought it was a very good brew, so i finally found this one, and snapped it up. At first the aroma had banana hints and upon a deep inhale the smoked malts came thorough, not as assertive as i would have liked though. First sip was relly nice with a smoked bacon flavor and a little bitterness. Smokiness was nicely balanced but i would have liked a little more. Overall a fine beer, but the marzen was a little more impressive to me."

"Fränken Bierausflug, Day#4, Brewery#16, Beer#31. Vom Faß in the Gasttube at the Heller Brewery's venerable Schlenkerla tap, on Dominikanerstrasse. I can't imagine a beer being more perfect than this. Pours a deep brown with brilliant ruby highlights; a dense, tan head with supurb lacing. Robust aroma of deliciously smoked malts. Full, tangy mouthfeel. Flavors of full roasted malt, a quiet bitterness, and the distinctively satisfying smokey taste - wonderfully warm! Perfectly satisfying. "

"Pours a dark reddish brown, almost black, with a nice sized tan head. Nice lacing with thick terraces. The aroma is what surprises first; smells of German smoked meat, most notably ham with a hint of chocolate malt. The chocolate is a bit hard to discern because of how seamlessly it is integrated within the more predominant scent. The malts become a bit more apparent in the flavor with a subtle amount of raisin nestled in with the malts and hops. Mouthfeel is quite nice as well. Overall, a beautiful offering for a unique style. For the price that I found it, I wish I had bought more than one bottle."

"Pours a nice dark brown with a thick head. Aroma is strong and smokey with a sweet finish. Lacing is fair, taste is lighter than aroma but smoke flavor is definitely there. Smooth mouthfeel slightly oily with lingering taste. Enhance the experience with a jar of smoked almonds!"
