We've applied the Alaskan tradition of alder-smoking to the malts of this rich, intensely flavoured porter, a recognized leader among the world's smoked beers. Enjoy it now or age it for several years

"Thankfully I finally found some of this, my bottle was brewed in 08. Aroma was a nice smokey presence not too strong, not too weak, good balance. Also there were hints of fruit and coffee. Predominant flavor of smoke with hints of chocolate and coffee, mouthfeel was a little on the thin side but not bad. I am not a big fan of smoked beers but, overall it was a pretty good porter thats worth a try."

"S6l6F4P403Had the pleasure of sampling this at the 1/27/2008 Pittsburgh ratebeer.com gathering upstairs, Sharp Edge Creekhouse. It will be a long time, if ever I am invited again and I see a spread of bottles like I did there - ever again. I am not good enough for the beers that were that we sampled! For example, how about this beer; Alaskan Smoked Porter from Linus_Stick, thanks! Very smokey aroma of wood burning. Looks like root beer. Barely any carbonation. Taste is really burned and smoked wood, what else? Leathery tanned at times. Small amount of bitterness but I’m not sure if it is from the brew or from the smoke? Very unique in it’s own way. "

"I must admit that I will have to drink this again sometime. This is a style I am not used to yet and will come back to it again. The aroma and Apperance is amazing. Thick head and bursting with smells that are second to none. I will wait another year and drink another one. Hopefully by then I will appricate it much more."

"22 oz bottle, 2007 vintage. Pours a dark brown with a creamy tan head that goes to a thin film and laces the glass.
The aroma is chocolate malts with quite a bit of liquid smoke.
The flavor is sweet chocolate malts up front followed by liquid smoke and some BBQ. The finish has a good amount of bitterness (slightly plasticy). The mouthfeel is medium bodied with smooth carbonation.
Overall, not very complex (chocolate and smoke), but it's fun. The aftertaste was a bit off, otherwise this would be higher."

" I tried the 2007 smoked ported. Gross!! The aroma was smoked alder. It poured a black color with a perfect head. The head was a tan color with hints of red in it. Lots of lacing. The beer itself was to smokey for me. "
