"Alaskan Brewing never fails to amaze my pallet. Another well crafted brew. Nice dark golden color. Smooth silky mouthfeel. Just the right amount of "spice" from Spruce Tips. Do not miss this one!"

"12 oz bottle. Pours a golden copper with a creamy white head that retains well and laces the glass.
The aroma is sweet toasted malts and spices.
The flavor is sweet sugary malts with some piney spices and some vegetal notes. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with creamy carbonation.
Overall, it's too sweet for me, with some off-notes. I'd prefer more spicing."

"This isn't quite what I expected from something called a "winter ale." Nevertheless, it was a pleasant surprise. The mouthfeel was really full, almost sticky. It smelled like my Martin 12-string...the spruce is really strong. Tastes like sweet spruce sap...that is if syrup was made from spruce instead of maple, it just might taste rather like this. It becomes a little sweeter as it warms up, and then leaves a sticky sweet taste/feeling after swalled, much like a marzen. The carbonation disappears from it pretty fast, and leaves no head or lacing at all. Rather strange orange color. Has some really great points, but I don't know if I'd buy it again. "

"On draft at the Yardhouse in Phoenix just before a red eye, served with an amber to light copper color, very clear, weak initial head, weak lacing. The aroma was bready, toasty caramel, some spicing (was shocked to read online here that it was spruce tips?). The flavor was comparable to the aroma, coming off much like an oktoberfest lager than anything else. Malty and syrupy to go along with a little bite (hops / spice combo?) in the end."

"A nice winter brew. Its not a true winter brew as I thought it would be darker and more hoppy. This is more of an amber ale. The aroma is nice with a bunch of hops. Head is nice and thick. A nice beer but not a true winter brew."
