Alesmith's Decadence Anniversary Ale was originally brewed in 2005 to celebrate our first decade in business. The brewers at Alesmith had such a great time concocting Decadence that they decided to make it an annual event, and brew a new style each year to commemorate our Anniversary. The second release in the Decadence series, Dead by Dawn, was inspired by our own seasonal specialty ale, Evil Dead Red. What if we made it bigger, bolder and even more evil? The result is Decadence 2006 Dead by Dawn, a devilicious auburn-colored ale with a complex sweet caramel maltiness balanced by the just the right amount of hop bitterness. Dead by Dawn showcases an enticing hop flavor and intense hop aroma that rounds out this rich, full-bodied ale. Join our Anniversary Celebration with Decadence. You'll soon discover why Alesmith is known around the world as the place to find Legendary Craftsmanship.

""JohnC, thank you. I choose you, Pikachu! Cloudy dark reddish-brown with an off-white head (no, Clash, I can’t pour...and stop trying to blow into my ear; it’s freaking me out). One day, you’ll find someone. Back to the beer. Alcohol is strong; the 10% ABV kinda bit me. Dark fruits were really prominent as this brew warmed. Some bubble gum. Very nice!""

"A murky dark brown appearance with a large head this may be due to the horrible pouring technique of Sassy. Or the mason jar it’s in. The aroma is brown sugar, alcohol, raisins, and nutmeg. The flavor contains a bit of alcohol, molasses, raisins, and brown sugar, how come you taste so good. The aftertaste is somewhat sweet and warming. Thanks JohnC for the hookup. on dis and Sassy for her immense generosity. "

"Bottle courtesy of Bu11zeye: Poured a deep red/burgundy color ale with a large foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of sweet malt is reminiscent of a barley wine with some citrusy hops also noticeable. Taste is a mix between some barley wine type sweet malt with some bitter and citrusy hops also noticeable. Medium body with some good carbonation and no apparent alcohol. Overall, while this is not a bad beer I thought it was slightly one-dimensional and IMO over-rated. "

"Big thanks to omhper to give me the opportunity to sample my very first beer from Alesmith! This beauty pours out in a slightly hazy reddish brown colour with rich firm lasting beige foam. Big but very well-composed aroma of figs, caramel, toffee, pine-needles, cherries, dates, mild floral hops with a fresh whiff of citric fruit. Full, compact and elegant flavour without being overly bold of dried fruit, caramel, sweet licorice, floral hop, over-riped cherries and mild dose of alcohol. Chewy candy like body. Long caramely finish dates, caramel, black cherries, flowery hops and milky chocolate. Incredible. I’m off to San Diego tomorrow! (In my dreams....)"

"Bottled. Deep amber colour, mediumsized creamy head. Aroma is fruits, some yeast, caramel malts, spices and raisins. Some mild roasted notes also. Flavour is caramel malts, toffee, some breadyness, fruity and flowery notes along with raisins and mild notes of alcohol. "
