"Pours a dark amber color with excellent head retention, nice lacing. Aroma is very citrus hoppy and what I can only describe as "very english". Leaves a nice lingering aftertaste. Big hop taste with lots of caramel, malt, and citrus overtones. A big beer with lots of taste and not terrible to drink. Definitely would share with someone."

"I saved this one for my 300th review, kinda wish i had it sooner but oh well. Numbskull poured a deep brown-amber hued body, good carbonation with a thin white cap that left heavy laceing. Aroma was really nice lots of different fruit made an apperance pineapple, pear, cherry, citrus and alcohol. Flavors of chocolate, coffee at first and as it warmed the fruit flavors came into play, alcohol was noticeable throughout. Mouthfeel was thick and chewy, alcohol warms up the body some. Overall a very nice brew, cant wait to open my second one later."

"2004 bottle brought to me in late 2007 by a friend. Opened in late July 2008. I can see why this brewery is so widely hailed as a great brewery, their beers are pretty good. This beer pours a dark brown and has a white head. The aromas aren't as fruity as the website claims, but with the sweet malt one can sense some some pear and apple. The flavour is super sweet, with a nice alcohol burn on the way down, and a nice slightly bitter aftertaste."

"Wow! This is a great barleywine. The bottle is beautiful with its silver foil top. I was surprised to find a traditional bottle cap on top, though. I was half way expecting a champagne cork. Nevertheless, the smell is terrific, a typical barleywine nose of fruit and berries. It pours an opaque brown with a thin, short lasting head. The mouthfeel is thick. The taste is of more berries, yeast and fruit. The finish is long and sweet with a warm alcohol burn. I give the taste a 10 for a barleywine class of beers as this is not my favorite type of beer. It is certainly the best barleywine that I’ve had, however."

"Bottle. Poured a cloudy, dark amber color with almost no head. Very slight lacing. Aroma of alcohol, caramel, and maybe a hint of fruit. Nice full mouthfeel. Flavor is very potent with alcohol, almost bourbon-like. Finish is hoppy with more of a yeast and bourbon flavor to it. Very nice barleywine."
