San Francisco's famous Liberty Ale was first brewed on the 18th of April, 1975 to celebrate the 200th anniversary of Paul Revere's historic ride. It is virtually handmade by the brewers of Anchor Steam Beer in one of the smallest and most traditional breweries in the world. Liberty Ale is made with the finest barley malt, fresh, whole hops, top fermenting yeast, pure water and the simple natural methods which reflect our exceptional respect for the ancient art of brewing. It is "dry hopped", a classic ale tradition, and slowly completes its fermentation in sealed vats in out cellars. This unique process creates Liberty Ale's distinctive bouquet and uncommonly delicate, entirely natural carbonation.

"not as big with the citrusy hop aroma or flavor as i'd expect. pretty thin on the palate, but not a bad beer. there are just much more intruiging pales out there"

"Pours a deep golden/amber color with a nice fluffy head, the aroma is somewhat dry and hoppy with some slight sweetness in the background. The flavor is zesty and citrus-like with a malty sweet lingering backbone but the hop profile is the main taste I got from this brew."

"Color is typical of a lager, clear yellow with a tinge of orange, but with a nice, thick, fine-bubbled head that persists. Aroma is crisp and malty with a hoppy undertone, not complex but still inviting. Flavor has equally strong hops and malt components, not too bitter, with just a touch of sweetness. Texture is smooth, and finish is hoppy and satisfactory."

"Liberty ale poured a slightly hazy golden body with a thin off white cap. not much lace left behind, mouthfeel was good with a hop bite. Aroma of citrus and slightly floral. Flavor was similar to the aroma with a nice hop tartness, and plesant aftertaste. Overall a pretty good offering from anchor.
