This special strong ale has been brewed at the Steam Tower Brewhouse in Kingsdown, Swindon, since 1843 when John Arkell established his brewery near the hunting lodge of King Henry VIII.

"Bottle. Dark amber colour with a decent sized off-white head. Aroma of toasted malts. Taste is sweet and malty with a fair amount of bitterness to balance and some acidity. It tastes pasteurised, but sort of manages to get away with it. Pretty good."
