Salvation. The name of two intricate Belgian-style ales, created by us, Vinnie Cilurzo of Russian River Brewing and Adam Avery of Avery Brewing. After becoming friends a few years ago, we realized that we both had a Salvation in our line-ups. Was it going to be a problem? Should one of us relinquish the rights? Hell no! we said. In fact, it was quickly decided that we should blend the brews to catch the best qualities of each and create an even more complex libation. After talking about it for over 2 years we finally decided to pull the trigger and Vinnie flew out to Avery to brew his Salvation exactly as he does in his brewery. This ale was blended with Avery's Salvation December 11th, 2006. We hope you enjoy it as much as we enjoyed brewing and blending it.

"Pours a semi-transparent, dark, golden amber with a very thick, fine-bubbled, cream-white head that sticks around a while. Aroma is rich and malty with fruity and yeasty hints. Mouth-filling flavor is very toothsome, mostly malty with some hints of hops and undertones of bananas. Texture is pleasantly smooth, but this beer still goes down with just a little sass."

"Bottled. Deep, slightly hazy, amber colour, mediumsized slightly off-white fluffy head. Aroma is caramel malts, some hops, slight notes of grass and overall quite sweet. Flavour is alcohol, caramel malts, some hops and mild notes of spices. A quite nice balance in the flavours. "

"I find that some of american style of belgians sting a bit when they hit the tounge??? Anyway I really enjoyed this effort. Great color and nice head. I just did not like the mouthfeel. Flavor was nice a bit of toffee and small amount of light chocolate. Nice amount of malt here. I had the second year of this beer."

"Sampled from bottle, batch #2. Pours dark copper with sediment. Thick, creamy white head and sheets of lacing. Rich malt and belgian yeast esters.phenols strong in the aroma. Balanced flavor with an interesting, layered malt profile: from bready to deep caramel. The yeast is less present in the flavor. Full-bodied and very smooth. Well-made beer."

[5] Review by Hannah from OK, USA who has tried this beer once. (5/15/2008 9:15:51 PM)
"Pours opaque reddish-brown with small, creamy head. Aroma is pleasant with grain balanced by herbal hopping; topnotes of vanilla and spice. The flavor is complex with malt and woodiness; ripe fruit accents. Medium-to-full bodied and well carbonated with light warming affect. Respectable showing in a tough style category."
