Our winter strong ale has a gorgeous mahogany hue, a hint of hazelnuts, and a finish reminiscent of mocha and toffee. No spices, just a perfect blend of five specialty malts. Cellarable for 2 years.

"pretty much a textbook winter warmer. pleasant flavor, good alcohol presence without being overbearing. better at 50 degrees or more. no need for spices like so many other holiday brews. malty, nutty. simple yet refined."

" It pours a dark brown color. Nice aroma of the roasted malts. It's a nice Ale. Avery brewing is slowly becoming one of my favorites. The flavor is nice."

"I'm surprised I didn't rate this one when I gave it a try during last Christmas. Choclate-toffee malt with a hint of hazelnuts in this mahoney body. It was a nice, warming ale just right for the slightly chilled winter of Florida."

"Pours dark brown with good clarity when held to light and a small, lasting head. Roasty malts are (almost) balanced by fruity topnotes. The flavor combines chocolate, coffee, and subtle earthy traits. Complex and interesting, more so than most English ales; a fun American take on the style. Medium bodied and amply carbonated; alcohol is well disguised."

"Sampled from bottle. Pours mahogany with a thin head and remarkable lacing. On the sweet side of balanced. Quite malty and slightly alcoholic with ripe, dark fruit. Full-bodied and moderately carbonated - probably a 'little' more carbonated than most old ales. Worth trying! "
