Inspired by the Bass Harbor Lighthouse, this beer delivers lots of flavor for a light-bodied ale. Rich, roasted malt flavors are subtly accented with aromatic hops, producing a well-balanced English Mild Ale that is not bitter. Terrific with Maine lobster & seafood.

"My brother in law bought this offering for me while vacationing in Bar Harbor...Roasted-malt aroma,this is a light bodied ale very good with appetizer...The mouthfeel is a bit weak,though it must be within the style...The flavor is remarkable some roasted malt,coffee notes very few hops is seasonning this beer,but again it's light and easy to drink in a pure England tradition like EYECHARTBREW said..."

"My buddy Richard is still considered to be something of starter, as far as homebrewing goes. But's it's certianly notable that he already has a few quite distinctive beers to his repertoire, including a dandy Mild Ale. Well, as much as I hate to say it, this particular beer still doesn't quite measure up to Sir Richard's. But if ever there was a tasty commercial equivelent, it would surely be this marvelously quaffable ale from Bar Harbor ME.
Want to make sure that you let this one warm up a bit -- the closer to old-school cellar temps you get this, the better it gets.
Hints of chocolate malt in the front, with toasted malt and some Crystal in the middle, and silky smooth maltiness in the backend. Hoppiness is not a truely disreable characteristic of this particualr style, but this surely has enough English hops to keep this on the straight-and-narrow.
But where this beer hits it's stride is in the shear easy drinkability. Now, that might seem to be something of a put-down to some people. Far from it, sir. This is the type of beer that British had for their luncheons, before getting back to work on the docks, etc. Or when they wanted a few quick Session beers before heading home after work.
In fact, this is so "British" in character, I'm apt to wax semi-poetic in it's praise:
' After having a few pints of this down at "22 Acacia Avenue", I lay witness to the "Murder In The Rue Morgue" by the "Phantom Of The Opera". Rather that becoming "The Prisoner", I "Ran To The Hills" to the "Children Of The Damned", and later had pints of this with "The Trooper" in "Transylvania". But keeping in mind "The Rime Of The Ancient Mariner", I was getting tired of "Running Free" from the "Women In Uniform", and I sought "Sanctuary" with only "Two Minutes To Midnight" remaining before I turned into the "Prowler". I slipped on my "Iron Maiden", and had a few more cool pints of this, and had majestic visions of places "Where Eagles Dare"...'
Ahem..., well, anyway...., this is indeed a great Session beer. To borrow some of the local phraseology, this could be considered to be "wicked good beer". Recommended.
