"2Presentation: It was poured from a brown 11.2oz bottle into a snifter.
Appearance: It pours a very dark brown color that has coppery highlights. The body is nearly opaque and it forms a big tan foamy head that has very good retention. It also makes nice lacing on the glass.
Smell: The aroma has sweet, fruity and spicy character with just a hint of hops.
Taste/Mouth feel: The flavor has a wonderful natural sweetness from the honey and malted barley. Dark sweet fruit notes of raisins, figs and plums mix with coriander, bitter orange peel and a touch of earthy yeast. Hop flavor is very mild and adds just a hint of bitterness. The alcohol adds a nice warming quality and it finishes slightly dry. Its palate is medium to full bodied with a smooth creamy texture that is tempered by its lively carbonation.
Notes: This is another great Belgian treat.

"This dunkel bock pours a deep black brown color from a 33cl bottle. Large sized beige/white foamy head, with good retention and nice lacing. Aroma is malty, with lots of plums and dates. The malts are fruity and sweet with lots of plum and date flavors. The hops are earthy and really help balance all the sweetness. It’s still a fairly sweet beer, but not all that cloying. Lively carbonation. Nice sipping beer by the fire. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is a touch dry . Aftertaste is sweet with a touch of honey. "

"I think this was mislabled as a "bok" beer but it seems like a belgian strong ale with honey or a sweet barley wine.
Came in a date coded "33 centiliter" (11.5 Imp.oz.) euro long neck crown capped.
The pour was a disaster for my first one as I was not expecting a lees type beer in a bock (Maybe it says so in one of the 4 languages on the lable) and I poured in all the "chunks" of the lees making the first glass quite muddied. The second one I decanted and it was much better.
Poured a very dark opaque cola-mahogany with a chunky off white head that stayed for a while then reduced to a light tan lace. Lots of cabonation in the glass.
Aromas of berries, licorice, spice...Very pronounced and pleasing.
Started sharp (cabonation) but built to a large prickely, large mouth feel punctuated by licorice tastes and a honey-malty sweeteness that outstrippped the hopping. Finished with a malty sweet fruity taste and a slight hop and honey after taste....then that great "warming" effect.
A belgian strong beer with lot's of character but not to my personal tastes. I don't like overly murky ales (unless a weissbeir) and the chunky lees on the glass bottom really turned me off. It's also a tad sweet for me.
Try this winter bok along with some pecans and brie in front of a warm fire on a cold January night. That seems to be it's niche because it isn't made for thirst quenching"
