The Black Wattle range of ales and lagers have been designed specifically for those that demand the finest of beers.
In creating the Black Wattle range, we have used a combination of select malt and hops, brewed to traditional methods and standards. Black Wattle however, offers something special. All beers in the Black Wattle range feature a unique touch of Australia, incorporating native herbs and spices during the brewing process. The resulting beer delivers a wealth of flavours that have not been experienced in beer until today.
The first beer released is the Wattle Seed Ale, which starts with a blend of Australian and European malts, creating a rich flavour base of caramel with a hint of chocolate. The smooth malt flavours are lightly hopped and then infused with roasted Wattle Seed, bringing a unique and authentic Australian flavour to this fine red ale. The result is an outstanding ale that boasts a smooth taste profile balancing its robust character, an ultimately rewarding yet distinctive beer.
At 5.8% ABV and offering a long and lasting flavour, the Wattle Seed Ale is best enjoyed with or after a meal, complimenting a juicy steak, rack of lamb, or a prosciutto and rockmelon starter. Alternatively, this select ale will be enjoyed at almost any occasion by those who enjoy something special in a beer.
Wattle Seed Ale is available in select bars, restaurants and merchants throughout Australia.

"Pours a clear amber with a small head. The aroma has a nice nuttiness, kind of along the lines of a hazelnut. The flavor has a decent maltiness, but very little hop character. A slightly soapy quality to the finish, but not in an offensive way."

"This ale pours a deep amber color from a 33cl bottle. Small to medium sized white foamy head, with nice retention and good lacing. Aroma is caramel, slightly nutty and sweet. Perhaps a touch of chocolate in there as well. A medium bodied spiced ale. The malts are caramel and nutty. The hops are earthy. Nice balance. Its kind of amber like, yet it has a big malt backbone with some chocolate flavors. A touch nutty and there is some flavor I can’t place, the wattle seeds I’m guessing. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and dry. Aftertaste is slightly bitter and nutty. "

"Dark chestnut color with a medium sized white cap and lots of spotty lacing, the color is rather intriguing. Pleasant, abundant aroma of sugary raisins and sweet breads with fresh flowers and a hint of milk. Smooth on the palate with a nice filling body. Lightly sweet and has a great rolling creamy finish. This treat reminds me of a bock beer in many regards. Blended flavor of dark sugary fruits, and buttered bread. Nice floral taste coupled by some sweet spices. Unique flavor that is also familiar, over all it's a touch too sweet for my liking. Still comes off as a nice beer in itself."

"The aroma is malty and very sweet with some hints of brown sugar and is bready-like. The appearance is a nice earthy brown with hues of red amber with a head that is moderate but discipates very quickly only leaving bubbly, off-white lacing on the glass that coats evenly and very well. The mouthfeel is light to medium-bodied with a whole lot of malty complexity with not much balance with a pallet that is smooth and coats decently. The flavor is full of maltiness and very cloying as well as very sweet, almost too much so, with bready and doughey overtones with an aftertaste that is only of sweet bread crumbs with a finish that is smooth and almost silky and is not too bad but is one-sided with not much bitter hoppiness coming through. Overall, this is not a bad brown ale but pretty caramelly and sweet. Man, this brew makes me wonder if any hops were used at all in the brewing process and the interesting spice notes add another dimension and seems like poppy seeds; decent stuff I guess."

"Pours a dark amber, pale brown. Clear. Dense white head, some carbonation. Heavy lacing.
Nice aromas of English Ale. Some tobacco leaf, golden syrup/LME, with vanilla notes.
Tastes of nutty medium roasted malts. Hops are restrained. There is an aftertaste similar to poppy seed. I guess this is the wattle seed.
Medium body, smooth finish, like the back of a Kilkenny.... Light-medium bitterness... but I think there is a seed texture in there also, some vegetal bitterness.
