Leipziger Gose is a top-fermenting wheat beer {60% wheat, 40% barley malt} with coriander, salt, and lactic acid bacteria added in the boil. It is a 4.6% alc/vol eclectic beer whose name evokes a close relationship to the renowned Lambic/Geuze breweries in the Valley Senne nearby Brussels, Belgium.

"Is this bottle funky or what? This is a special beer, or so I'm told. It's 'different' they say. Well, I needed to try and find out for myself and managed to talk to a friend of mine in Germany and have him get a bottle. Still, it took him several weeks to find one.
The beer is a pale orange. There is some carbonation. The aroma is heavily spicy (I'll assume it's coriander as I've never actually had coriander in the house before to know). The flavour was slightly spicy as well although it was primarily malty.
It's a truly unique brew, and I really enjoyed it."

"Starts with an unusual but actually pleasant aroma of soured grain and spice. Body is medium amber in color and well carbonated. The bubbly white head dissipates rapidly. Medium-bodied with a firm, smooth mouthfeel. The light saltiness complements the slightly acidic lemony-sour flavors of fruit and wheat with a spicy-bitter dry finish. Wow! I'm liking this quite a bit. Something new, for me at least, other than the usual (high quality but somewhat boring) German beers. I need to find out more about this style."

"A hoppy beer with floral, sour and lemon notes. A very thin bodied golden straw colored ale that was somewhat refreshing with low bitterness and bread like flavors. Almost got the sense it as a pilsner not ale style beer."

"This will be my first ever Gosebier so it should be interesting. Aroma is strange and funky with some citrus overtones with some strong lemon and sweet lemonade as well as wheaty and sour nuiances. Appearance is a golden yellow in color when held to the light with some haze and a head on top that is spritzy and bleach-white and diminishes leaving lacing. Mouthfeel is light-bodied with strange complexity as well as balance and a palate that is crisp and sharp and reminds me of Berliner Weiss. Flavor is of lemon and spice with some salty overtones and some strange off flavors with an aftertaste that is clean and sour and a finish that is unrefined and just weird. Overall, a very interesting brew here and is not the most pleasant brew out there but an example of style lost for a time in the past. This brew reminds me of unfiltered lambic and the American wheat style combined with a little bit of farmhouse thrown in the mix as well as fresh squeezed lemons.. "

"A beer with amber color, a bit hazy at that, slightly off white head, decent size but short lasting. A persistent ring of lace on the top of the beer lasts to the last drop is gone. A little hint of wheat on the nose, yeast and something a bit fruity? Maybe the coriander? The mouthfeel is a bit thin to start them builds up. The taste is light and sweet to start, a tad fruity, then bitter midway through and dry on the finish. Very “Weissen Bierish” in flavor to start but the coriander and salt makes this a bit different.
Overall enjoyable. I think I would enjoy this more on a warm summers eve. It is refreshing (I think) and light on the pallet, easy to drink. Only 3 different types of this beer listed , shame…."
