Pete Brown Tribute Ale is our rendition of a Strong American Brown Ale. This ale pays homage to subtle flavors of golden brown sugars, and sweet molasses. (Pete Brown, 1949-2002. Cheers, ol' pal.)

"I'm always a big fan of Bear Republic products. I had never run across the Pete Brown Tribute Ale until my latest trip to the Old Toad in Rochester, NY. My friend Darren ordered up a bottle and I stole a small sample from him.
The beer pours out a nice dark brown color with a great looking reddish hue to it. The head is full, creamy, and a nice dirty white color. From looks alone, this one is a tempting treat. The aroma has a light sweetness to it, with a hint of caramel and maltyness mixed in. You also get a feint smell of the alcohol content in this as well.
The mouthfeel was a little disappointing once I started drinking it. It seemed much more watery than what I had expected. The carbonation was a little heavy to start off, but once it sat for a few minutes, it mellowed out and became more drinkable. The flavor was somewhat typical of a brown ale with a roasted nut taste, mild sweetness, and a hint of bitter hoppyness at the back end. The flavor didn't stay though. At first it really hits your mouth, but then as quick as it hits you, it quickly dies out. That was kind of a shame.
Lesson learned...you must serve this one at room temperature, otherwise it just doesn't taste good. I just wish this one had a little more heartiness to it."

"From a bottle. Pours a dark almost opaque reddish brown. Aroma is excellent, caramel and sweet. Mouthfeel is smooth and silky. Flavor is subtle. Caramel flavor comes through and a mild hoppiness at the finish. Flavor could be better, but overall an excellent beer."

"Silky and very drinkable brown ale... nice roast chocolate aroma .. some nice flavours too, but in truth, doesn't wow me ... abv is hidden nicely .. drinkable and respectable but nothing that special... 'where are you gonna run' 9:05 - greg packer 'unknown'"

"I just wrote a stellar review, but forgot to check all the attributes so it didn't save it. Bummer!
Pours a dark reddish brown colour with a full tan head. Aroma is sticky- molasses, IHOP on Sunday and Nestle Crunch. A big, bold brown bear ale that doesn't hesitate to question authority but does not at any time attempt to out do itself. Mouthfeel is creamy, lightly carbonated and very soft. Taste is sweet of brown sugar, carmel apples, raisins and milk duds. (It's been years since I've had a milk dud, but i still remember what they taste like)
All I can say is, if this brew was dedicated to me, I would be a very proud man."

"This isn't your Dad's typical brown ale. This beer makes no reservations of being reeled in or humble in any way. Big beer here, yet it's not. The aroma is full on roasted malts/chocolate combo, brown sugar and molasses round things out. The beer is dark brown in color with a suprisingly small off-white head. Flavor is full on brown sugar and molasses with a strong presence of roast. Easy to drink and easy to enjoy."
