Belhaven Wee Heavy has a rich deep flavour that derives from the greater proportion of malted barley to hops which characterised Scottish ales of the 19th century. A beer to be sipped, savoured and fully respected.

"500ml bottle
6.50% ABV
I tried this beer on September 30, 2008 after purchasing from one of my local LCBO outlets. The beer poured a very dark translucent reddish-brown colour, with a 1" thich tan coloured head. the aroma was sweet and molasses like, very malty. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied, medium carbonation. The flavour is sweet malt, molasses, and dark fruit with a little bit of brown sugar."

"So far this is my second highest rating for a beer. I was impressed with the wee heavy, a very soild, well rounded ale. First the body looked like dark root beer with a tanish mid sized head, it had so many floaters it looked like a lava lamp. The taste was well balanced with the toasted malts and hops, flavors of over ripe plums, toffe and alcohol (which was hidden well). thick and creamy mouthfeel. Definatley worth your time dark beer lovers!"

"One of my favorites so far. Purs with a dark-brown 'heavy' body. Not much carbonation. But nice complexity of malts making an easily drinkable ale with a moderate kick."

"This stuff has an amazing clear, reddish brown colour. It also has a large smooth looking light tan head with good retention and some ropy lacing. The aroma is based around the huge malt presence - sweet, caramel, there's something earthy, raisins... I think that's it. There is a huge roast characteristic to the flavour with some hidden hops... just a massive pile of dark roasted malts, toffee /molasses. The hop spice comes out more later on. Smooth mouth feel and a great aftertaste. It's good but for whatever reason I am not drawn to this beer what so ever."
