"Bottle pour is midnight black with a beautiful dark brown head that caps and has nice retention. Good lacing. Aroma's of dark malts, brown sugar, and coffee. Mouthfeel is wonderfully bitter and exceptionally smooth. The taste is licorice, dark chocolate, roasty malts, and some hops. Any stout fan needs to sample this. A great beer from Bell's, one of the better stouts that isn't an RIS."

"Pours a solid black with a decent darkish tan head. Aroma of expected roasted coffee and chocolate, along with some licorish. A little burnt overall, but very good."

"Pours a black color topped with just a thin brown head. Aroma is roasted chocolate and malts but rather mild. There is however quite a bit of flavor to this one. It starts off with a nice rich toasty dark chocolate flavor blended in with malts and traces of coffee in the background. A bitter aftertaste lingers a while. Mouthfeel is nice and full. In between sips I keep tasting a roasted, almost burned, dark chocolate, bitter flavor. This is good. "

"I’ve heard a lot about the Bells Brewery. I finally found a good selection from that Michigan import to South Florida at Total Wine and More in Northern Palm Beach County. And I chose this Stout (Porters and Stouts being the first I would naturally turn to) with a Greek Calazone (Feta Cheese and mozarella, topped with olives). Guinness was my first Stout and I am learning with each new beer that there are so many great Stouts that are a leap above Guinness. Bells Kalamazoo did not disappoint. Nicely roasted malt with a slight bittering-chocolate-hint of licorice palate. Brownish head doesn’t last long, but who cares when the beer tastes this good!"

"Pours a midnight black with burnt head tat is thick and creamy. Aroma is of roasted malts, coffee, chocolaty hints. Tastes the coffee, bold, a little sweet, and chocolates. Pretty good stout."
