Made in the tradition of artisan brewers, Sans Culottes is a blonde beer sur lie. Probably the best bière de garde for the uninitiated to start with. Packed in a 75 cls bottle with a wired-down cork, Sans Culottes sports a brilliantly eye-catching label showing a revolutionary soldier proudly wearing his pantalons, having wisely forsaken his culottes for the coming struggle.

"Clear yellow, lightly carbonated, with a foamy white head with light lacing. The nose is malty, yeast and slightly sour with further aromas of fruit and flowers. Medium-bodied, fresh and mild palate. Malt flavors and bready/biscuity with some sour fruit. Good, but not great. MUSIC: Paris Is Burning by St. Vincent"

"I guess I'm just not a big fan of Biere de Garde's. Or perhaps, just not this particular one but honestly I've had a few now and none of them impressed me at all. With this beer, the aroma was really bready, lightly dried apricots and moderately sweet. Appearance..well, the first class was absolutely stunning. Crystal clear, huge bubbles a la champagne bubbles with a nice three finger thick off-white head. Mouthfeel was tingly but not overdone. Flavor was more bread, light fruit, floral (chewing rose petals) and sweet. After the first glass, the remaining glasses were well mixed with yeast sediment, causing even more bread to be smelled and tasted. I found it really hard to comsume the rest of this beer and in fact dumped the remaining amount out. Ya live and learn I guess. "

"This Biere de Garde pours an orange gold color from a 750ml bottle. Small sized white foamy head. Aroma is bready, yeasty, fruity and sweet. A medium to full bodied B de G. Malts are baked bread, roasted malts, and orange. Hops are earthy. Slightly spicy, mostly coriander and ginger flavors. Lively carbonation. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet. "

"hazy gold, good initial head. Grassy aroma with some honey sweetness. Mouthfeel has fine bubbles and a very smooth body. Subtle barnyard essence, light spice, apple notes and yeah a hint of corn too. Some crispness in the aftertaste with a floral note. All in all i wasnt as inspired by this as some were. Its french, its blonde and very smooth"
