Black Sheep Ale is brewed using traditional and time honoured methods which achieve a beer of the highest quality. It is a superb premium bitter which is brewed in restored antique brewing vessels and fermented in the unusual Yorkshire Square system to produce a distinctive robust ale.
Brewed with many generous handfuls of choice Golding hops, it is full flavoured ale with a rich fruit nose.
The bittersweet malty taste is followed by an uncompromising long, dry and bitter finish. This beer was the first, most successful, of all of our bottled beers.

"aroma is sweet with a nutty undertone. appearance it has a dark honey , with a camel cap that disappears rapidly. crisp taste with very little after taste, a slight bite on the back of the tongue. flavor starts sweet with a hint of carmel, that progresses into a weak hoppy bitterness. overall a better beer than anticipated good all around beer. drinkable in any season may go well with bar-bq. "I have only had a few bitters but this one is not as good as the others. It is a really nice beer to look at but flavor is just weak in my opinion. "

"Clear golden color, little to no head or lacing, clear. Aroma of buttery biscuit. The flavor was of bitter, butter and biscuits. Too much diacetyl. Ick."

"I gotta say that as far as ESB's go, this one is right up there. A nice caramel sweet nose, with nothing done overboard. Appearance is a cloudy amber color. Flavors were carmel with an interesting hop attack that smooths everything out. Easy drinking for sure, and it beats the pants off the other stuff made from these guys. Not bad!"
