Abbey triples are usually blond or light amber in color. That is a centuries-old tradition. The Bornem Tripel is a party beer, hoppy and full of flavor, soft in the mouth, with an outstanding sweet-bitter balance, a pleasant aroma and a good head. And finally, it leaves a long aftertaste to enjoy to the fullest.

"Aroma of mixed fermented fruits such as pears, bananas, and oranges. Rather earthy with a musty quality. Cloudy, golden-orange color, huge rocky head, and heavy lacing. Airy, sweet mouthfeel lending to a light creaminess. This is one of the easiest drinking Tripels I can recall. Sweet and yeasty flavors along with a nice vibrant fruitiness. Does come across as a tad watered down. Grassy with a fading/faint bitterness."

"Presentation: Poured from a 330ml/11.2oz bottle in to a tulip glass.
Appearance: It has a hazy light golden yellow color with an excellent, huge white head. Its head is thick and frothy with stiff rocky peaks that last forever.
Smell: The aroma is fruity and sweet with a nutty malt character and strong funky yeast. There is even a hint of coconut as well.
Taste/Mouth feel: The flavor starts off dry, with earthy yeast that turns malty, sweet and fruity. There is a slight hazelnut flavor along with tropical fruit notes and even a light coconut flavor as well. Hops add a light bitterness and herbal flavor to the finish. Its alcohol adds a pleasant warmth and sophistication to this smooth textured, medium bodied ale.
Notes: This is a very good triple that has a standout flavor that I really enjoyed.

"Pour was cloudy straw with soda pop head and a little fizz left over on the glass (I wouldn't really call it lacing). Aroma was faint barnyard funk. The flavor was sweet malt fruity trippel malt, some barnyard funk and a mild twang finish. A bit overcarbonated on the tongue. Not a horrible beer, but not great either."

"As soon as I popped the top I noticed a sweet and spicy aroma....almost like brown sugar with a hint of pepper. A cloudy golden colored Tripel with a white head but unfortunately lacking a lot in the flavor. A medium bodied ale with a spicy and warming taste but nothing else. Not that enjoyable to drink."

"This is an old notebook review from March 2006 apx that I just recently found, so I can only go off of what is written.
Got the beer in a 6 pack mixer.
The pour created a huge thick monster head, bright white with a brown swirl from the sediment. Beer was a cloudy light orange. The aroma was yeasty and spicy but quite mild. There was a sourness as well. Taste was quite good with lots of spiciness and yeast with a soft fruit flavour. Mouthfeel comment says "a little plain". There is also a comment which I think may coincide with the flavour description that says "chemically / paint". Maybe the easiest drinking tripel I'd had up to that point. Interesting comment mainly due to my early dislike of tripels."
