This is a Deutsch Stark Bier-not a bock, but a strong lager. Bronze in color, full body, heavy lacing, and a head that last till the end. The balanced body duels between hops and malt. Lagered for 4.5 months, the is as the name says-(sorta) -The bier of the year from Braunlinger. The hops are potent and add to the soothing effect of the bier.

"This is by far the best bier from my neck of the woods. A filtered strong lager bier, that is of a style produced once a year in the Black Forest (stark bier season is March in Bayern) is not a bock by any means. The flavor is the dominate "bier" of the best Deutsch lagers, but with intense mouth feel and strong enough to make the nite lively, but not cut it short like the 8,5 % heller dopplebock from Wald Haus just down the road. A real Ocktober bier from way down south in Deutschland. Short season, limited quantities, damn good. I am seeing dopple that is why the double entry-what the 23.04 is is yet to be determined...."
