A tribute to Brooklyn’s 1955 World Champion baseball team, Brooklyn Pennant Ale is a chestnut-colored pale ale with a hearty, toffeeish malt palate and a finely balanced hop finish. Pennant is a traditional English-style pale ale. The pale ale style developed in the early 19th century, and was called “pale” because it appeared so in comparison to the darker ale styles of the day (East India Pale Ale was a stronger, paler, more bitter version of the style).

"Generally it seems to me that Pale Ales are underrated here, perhaps the style is just not very popular; milder than APA's or IPA's. the nose on this is a mix of sweet malts and cirtusy hops, fairly standard for the style. I would have liked a bit more bread. A nice clear light copper body with a good frothy off white head, moderate retention and lace. Good mouth, a light medium body slick, nice fiz. Carmel malt flavor provides a decent backbone with a stronger hops bite then might be expected, this tastes more like a light IPA than a Pale Ale. Finish is dry and clean, alcohol not present (and I miss it.) This is a very acceptable session brew but there are better American Pales out there, I like Geary's alot more. Nothing wrong here, just a bit unbalanced, not enough malt but very drinkable."

"The baseball theme was an attraction. But I am fast becoming a big fan of the Brooklyn brewery as more of their beers follow us transplanted snowbirds to South Florida. Nice lemony-grass nose. The hops are definitely there but brillantly does not over power the sweet malt"

"Bottle is labeled Brooklyn Pennant Ale '55 which as a baseball fan I think is a pretty cool name. The beer is alright. Pours an amber body and after less than a minute is topped with almost no head. Halfway through I looked at it and it appeared more ruby colored. Caramel, malty aroma with a well defined malt flavor. Subtle hops in the finish. Medium bodied. For whatever reason I was expecting something lighter. I guess the label had me thinking summertime, sitting in the sun, watching baseball, etc. This would be nice during the fall. Ok, so they won the pennant in the fall. I get it. Anyways as I said earlier it's alright. "

"Poured a copper tan to amber. Light lacing in the glass. The aroma was of mild hops and grass. The flavor was malty with bitter tones. This beer was not what I was expecting but worthin trying"

"Bottled (as pennant ale 55). Dark amber colour, small white head. Aroma is caramel, grass and hops. Flavour is the same along with some raisins and even alcohol. The hoppiness grows a lot in the finish. Very pleasant product. "
