Bruegel is a great-tasting alternative to the traditional lager and can be enjoyed at all kinds of get-togethers, in the bar with friends, or alone with a book or in front of the TV. Bruegel is also the ideal drink to have with lunch. This beer combines well with all spices, from a hearty warm meat dish to a spicy salad to a traditional pot of Zeeland mussels. The low alcohol content will enable you to then continue with your day's work without a problem.

"Faint, spicy aroma with some earthiness thrown in. Clear copper body topped by a thin filmy head and moderate lacing around the glass. On the light side, sweet and peppery. Finishes thin w/ a sliver of lasting bitterness. Sweet, biscuity malt with mild, musty yeast flavors. Pepper and faded hop flavors. Nice brew that could be sessionable due to it's mild pleasantness."

"Presentation: Poured from a 330ml/11.2oz bottle in to a tulip glass.
Appearance: It has a nice golden amber color with a slight haze. The head was crazy big, white in color and foamy with stiff peaks. It had a very long retention time and left cool lacing on the glass.
Smell: The aroma is full and has notes of sour apples and pears with earthy/funky Belgian yeast and doughy malts.
Taste/Mouth feel: It has a sour funky favor with some fruity esters as well. The first sip has a puckering affect on the palate. Then there is a dry earthy yeast flavor with some doughy malts and light fruity esters that give it some nice complexity. The body is light to medium with a somewhat thin texture that is alive with carbonation.
Notes: Overall I really enjoyed this ale. It had a nice refreshing character that would work very well with a light lunch, sea food, mild cheese or fruit.

"Pour was pale gold with smallish fizzy head and some lacing. The aroma was sour and funky just like the rest of the beers in this mixed disaster Belgian 6-pack from Van Steenberg. 5 losers out of 6 all the same...weak, sour and overcarbonated. Different shades of the same lousy variety. This one had some graininess and bitterness under the cardboard, sweet rotten fruity malt and off sour taste. Bleh."

"This beer pours a clear rusty amber colour with a thin white head. The aroma is malt, yeast, and citrusy hops. The flavour was much less discernable. Nothing really stands out.....no hoppish bitterness, not really malty, but drinkable."

"Pours a clear copper. The aroma is a bit of overripe candied apple. Some slight brown sugar in the flavor as well. This has a bit of the taste of extract beer, though."
