Basement Batch is a traditional American-style Pale Ale. Much like our infamous award-winning Choc Beer, it's handcrafted with only the finest ingredients. Starting with a base of American-grown 2-row malted barley we add liberal amounts of caramel and Victory malts to give Basement Batch a rich, almost nutty, malt backbone to complement the unique citrus character Cascade hops, which are the gold standard for this style. Like all of our choc beers, Basment Batch is "bottle conditioned," which means that it's fermented a second time while in the bottle. This long-established method of carbonating beer will leave a thin layer of yeast on the bottom of the bottle. So, pour slowly and carefully to maintain clarity, and enjoy!

"This is very well-crafted and flavorful pale ale, courtesy of Brett. Pored a hazy orange-gold with a substantial off-white head. Fresh aromas of grain and faint floral hops. Smooth medium-bodied palate with a crisp edge. Great flavor; sweetish citrus/grapefruit and a solid caramel-biscuity malt foundation makes this pleasant and approachable. Rewarded by a lingering complex finish. Very nice indeed. MUSIC: 'Basement Parties' by Matt Pond PA"

"Not a bad beer. I don't usually like Choc's beers, but I like this one. It purs a clear amber with a thick white head. Hoppy smell and a thick white head. Taste is of sharp hops tht linger. Good stuff."

"Pours a pale, golden-amber with good clarity and a lasting head. The aroma showcases most every angle of hops: floral, grassy, citric. Doughy malt base is highlighted by plenty of floral hop flavor. Clean, dry finish. Medium bodied with generous carbonation. Choc hasn't a lot of experimenting in the past and I'm pleased to try something new by them. "

"Sampled from bottle. Pours copper with a faint haze (bottle conditioned), a creamy off-white head and remarkable lacing. Pleasant, mild citrus and toasted bread aroma. A little underwhelming. Slightly bitter with a nutty, bready malt backbone and flavorful cascade hops. Very good grain bill. Medium-bodied and smooth. Well-made, easy to drink and down-right tastey."
