From the centuries-old tradition of Belgian Abbey monks comes our Uber Abbey Ale (9%). Aromatic and very full bodied, the beer will pour a deep burgundy in color and feature a rich, robust depth of malt character. Grab a line – Holy Sheet! – or you might be swept overboard

"The aroma is slightly sweet and earthy with hints of spice and some figs and creamy-like and very aromatic. The appearance is a dark brown and earthy and hard to see through when held to the light with a big, off-white head that sticks to the glass evenly. The mouthfeel is full-bodied and very complex and extremely well-balanced and very good. The flavor is very tasty and very creamy with hints of spice and figs with a wet finish that coats the pallet very nicely. Overall, excellent and very refreshing and very enjoyable to sip on anytime."

"While I enjoy almost everything out of Clipper City, this abbey ale is not quite as strong as the rest of the heavy seas line. The aroma pleasant, yet a little pungent. Appearance is quite dark, and red, much like the label on the bottle. Taste is nice, but nothing exciting. Overall a decent beer, but not among their best."

"Pour is ruby-brown colored, almost no head at all (and in a Chimay glass nonetheless!), completely disappointing for a supposed dubbel, lacing equally unimpressive and dull - an abbey dubbel???? Not by looking at it for sure. The aroma was spices, cinnamon, candi sugar, light bread (been gettin’ bread in a run of beers now, is it me?). The flavor was candied sweetness, some plums, strong spices, almost to the point of annoying, caramel, some light yeast notes, bread. Did I mention alcohol burn? The mouthfeel was fairly darned flat for the style. Overall, if you want a flat boring belgian strong ale that doesn’t have a lot of character (and is not offensive), this is for you. Otherwise, pick again for a real dubbel."

"Pours a dark amberish brown, so clear I could see fingerprints on the other side of the class, modest head, no lacing. Strong aroma of candied sugar and brown sugar with a flavor following suit, with lots of sweet malts, candied and brown sugar with a good bit of cherry fruitiness. Sweet, but not sickly, lots of alcohol flavor, but not detrimental. Rich flavor, well carbonated. Another good one from the Heavy Seas series."

"Clipper City has yet to blow me away, let me start with that. An amber appearance with a yeasty aroma consisting of some caramel and brown sugar. Some orange notes in the flavor as well as caramel and cherries. A rather one dimensional but ok tasting take on the Dubbel style.
