"Pours a hazy yellow/gold with "sudsy" white head and lacing that wraps that glass. Malty aroma with hops, citrus, spice mix, and even hints of tart berries. The mouthfeel is lacking: too thin and watery. Flavors of malts, hops, citrus, spice-heavy/peppery, and grassiness is apparent on the swallow. Good!"

"Aroma is like a typical lager, but richer and with a hint of citrus. Color is clear and straw-yellow, a little darker than most lagers and more appetizing. Flavor is typical except that there an interesting sour taste, not unpleasant at all, a bit lemony. Texture is very smooth and just a teeny bit thin, but still this is a tasty and refreshing beer."

"Aroma on this brew is sweetness and fruity esters with some coriander layered in as well as some citrus orange peel and spice with wheat malt. Appearance is a very cloudy, golden-yellow in color when held to the light with a medium-sized head on top that is well-carbonated and a bleach white in color and diminishes to a light lacing that coats the glass evenly. Mouthfeel is full-bodied with big malty complexity as well as some nice yeasty balance with a palate that is thick and creamy as well as well-rounded and smooth. Flavor is of tons of coriander as well as orange peel with some tart aspects with an aftertaste that is of allspice and wheat malt with some sour nuiances of licorice and has a finish that is clean and a tad dry but very crisp and refreshing and surprisingly good and almost overwhelming to the senses. Overall, an intense creation we have here with a hybrid of Belgian wit and strong ale and is very complex and very good with no alcohol coming through at all; recommended for sure... "

"A vigorous pour produces a three finger thick, pale, off-white colored head in my New Belgium globe glass. The beer is a hazed, straw color that shows a hazy, amber-tinged, gold color when held up to the light. The aroma is quite spicy with ample spice notes reminiscent of an aromatic mix of ginger, clove, nutmeg, pepper and something akin to white chocolate. If you really dig for it a grassy grain note becomes noticeable.
The beer is lightly sweet, but mostly comes across as dry. It is light bodied, but has a soft weight to it as it flows across the tongue. It finishes with a biting note that is a mix of pepper and bitterness. Flavors of nutmeg, light ginger, something savor that is a bit like sage or rosemary, clove and allspice. There is not a whole lot of the usually beery flavors here, but I wouldn't say that the spices are overwhelming; the spices certainly play the lead role, but I wouldn't bet my life on the specific mix of spics used. This is well carbonated, which adds a nice textural component to the delivered spice flavors. Perhaps a touch of herbal honey notes and a touch of cracker-like grain are all that I really get of the malt character in the flavor.
The spiciness is certainly more focused in the aroma than it is in the flavor, but it still plays a big role here as well. This is pretty tasty and is a nice mix of spices, but I really wish that the typical malt and hop notes would have added some additional and, I would argue, needed complexity. Not nearly as tasty as the original Coney Island Lager.
