Tawny Bitter was the first beer to be produced by the newly started Cotleigh Brewery back in 1979. Today it is still the brewery's leading brand and is undoubtedly one of the most popular pints in the West Country. Tawny bitter is brewed using local malted barley and English whole hops. A distinctive, well- balanced traditional bitter, Tawny Bitter has been a finalist in the Champion Beer of Britain competition on two occasions, and twice been chosen as a CAMRA Good Beer Guide "Beer of the Year".
