Jet black in color. Big-bodied, rich & hoppy with a sweet maltiness that includes some molasses notes

"Brown-black colored pour, nice chocolate covered head, decent lacing. The aroma was all cocoa chocolate, some licorice, light roast. Flavor impressively followed, bitter light roast touch really kept this think clean and drinkable. Chocolate-milk choco-cocoa elements w/ licorice worked great, some faint bubblegum under it all, but in a nice and very faint way. Mouthfeel was full for the style, quite nice and clean."

"Bottled (thanks heemer77!). Very deep brown colour with not much head. Aroma is coffee, roasted malts, some very dark chocolate and mild notes of wood. Flavour is roasted malts, alcohol, smoke and some wooden notes. Also bigtime coffee. "

"Bottle courtesy of Moejuck: Poured a pitch-black color beer with a medium foamy head with good retention and good lacing. Aroma of medium coffee with light roasted malt. Taste is dominated by some medium dry coffee with some light roasted malt and some nice oatmeal notes. Body is quite creamy which I always enjoy as well as being full with some medium to low carbonation. Well done and something I wouldn’t mind having again."

"sampled from bottle: pours a dark opaque black colour with a small tan head. Aroma is enticing full of dark fruits- blackberries, black cherries and dark chocolate. Creamy, lightly carbonated but stern firm mouthfeel. Taste is pleasent, initially hint of sweetness which quickly mellows out into a thick nutty- syrupy taste."

"Pours a used motor oil black. There's absolutely no light getting through this one. Has a thin dark brown head, with small amounts of lacing.
Smells of coffee, chocolate, roasted malts. What you would expect from a good stout.
Taste is initially chocolate, followed by the coffee and roasted malts finishing with just a touch of bitter hops and alcohol. This one is better that I had anticipated. Mouthfeel is just thick enough to let you know that you are drinking a stout, but so much that it's hard to finish.
My first beer from Dark Horse, and I was pleasantly surprised. Can't wait to try the others in my fridge."
