"This poured an amber to dark brown appearance with a moderate sized head. The aroma is sour cherries, nutmeg, apples, and vinegar. The flavor is quite sour with some granny smith apples, cherries, lemons, and a healthy does of vinegar. Some caramel presence as well. It has a woody character to it. Overall an awesome beer!"

"2006 Version - Dark brown with red highlights, thin foam coats the beer throughout and some lacing. Strong cherry vinegar aroma. I'm not getting the complexity noted in other reviews. Even after warming, I'm getting harsh cherry vinegar notes with just a slight note of wood. Really harsh vinegar, acetic acid flavors overwhelm the beer. I don't remember the normal Oerbier being this overpowering. Just not my thing."

"This beer poured with a cloudy muddy brown to red body topped off by a small tightly packed light brown head. The aroma is sour cherries, sweet toasted malts and very vinious. Mouthfeel was medium bodied, tart and slightly acidic. The flavor was oak, figs, raisons, and most prodominatly tart dark cherries giving this a very flemish sour flavor with just a little bit more of a kick."

"(13%, 2005 version). Dark cloudy syrupyish reddish/brown colour with huge beige creamy head. The aroma is grapes, alcohol and sour fruits. Flavour is quite the same, along with some grassy notes on the tip of the tongue. Also lots of cocoa to be found behind the sourness once it gets warmer. The burps you burp after this also taste like cocoa or milk chocolate. Overall an extremely complex beer, which probably ages well and might make it a bit smoother. "

"'02 Bottle at Toronado - SF: Shared this with my good buddy Aspidites. This is a great, great beer. An aroma of black cherries, a bit of light fruit and a slightly acidic/tartness coming thru. Flavors were an excellent combo of vinous, woody, dark and light fruit, and malts. This really reminded of a flemish sour with the dry finish. It didn't strip your mouth like a gueuze will, but it was an uplifting dryness. A fantastic beer."
