"Sampled for free at a Deschutes promotion at the Graduate in Davis, CA. This really is a super delicious stout. I wish it was easier to find by me. Pours a rich, thick black with a short tan head. A great balance of hops and bittersweet chocolate. I pushed on of these on my uncle-in-law who swears Guinness is the greatest stout; it wasn't hard to convince him of the error of his ways."

"Bottle courtesy of secret santa: Poured a pitch-black color stout with a huge medium brown foamy head with good retention and some good lacing. Aroma of dry coffee with some roasted malt and black chocolate is very enticing. Taste is also a well balance mix between some black chocolate, dry coffee and roasted malt. Body is full with a perfect creamy texture and good carbonation. I very much enjoyed this beer from a brewery that I am starting to learn about."

"This one is always easy to overlook sometimes. Yeah, it's not a sexy imperial stout, and the label is kinda lame. But the contents in the bottle are fantastic. I've consumed this beer several times over the years, so a 6-pack and $8.00 later, it's time to rate.
The beer pours out a deep black color with a really nice two-finger thick tan head. The head sort of shimmers in the glass as it dissipates. An arom of smoke, charred malts, molasses and toffee. Creamy mouthfeel. Smooth dark roasted malts, coffee, and dark chocolate truffles. Pretty dry in terms of a stout. Not a whole lot of residual sweetness left. Nice stout anyway you look at it."

"Pours a dark black with a faint touches of ruby highlights around the edges. This has a frothy one finger head that settles slowly to a thin cap and ring that leaves some substantial lace behind.
Smell; there's bits of chocolate and coffee, and roasted malts. Overall I'd say the aroma is fairly subdued for a stout.
Taste; roasted malts dominate upfront with some nice touches of chocolate and coffee. There's a bit of a sweet fruitiness that developes as the beer warms I can't quite place. At first I was a bit disappointed with the flavor of this beer, but the seond half of the glass made a much better impression once this warmed up a bit.
Mouthfeel is medium bodied, with plenty of carbonation. For a stout this is pretty darn drinkable."

"Very sweet and rich roasted flavor, toffee and molasses-like. A leathery finish. Basically black color and a good head. Aroma has a smokyness with some hops....A little too heavily sweet for my taste, but still another good flavorfull brew from Deschutes"
