Black ale with aromas and flavours of vanilla, dark chocolate, bourbon and roasted malt. The vanilla and cocoa marry nicely, without out-competing each other, to produce a surprisingly well balanced beer. This beer is mildly hoppy, but the cocoa introduces a touch of bitterness. Its colour may be intimidating, but it is a very smooth beer within reach of most beer drinkers. This highly appreciated dessert beer is brewed with organic fair-trade cocoa and first rate vanilla beans.

"I've been told that this is one of Canada's great brewers, so I felt the need to try them out. Montreal's a great beer city, and this didn't disappoint. A very black stout with a nice creamy head. The aroma is complex with hints of chocolate, cocoa, vanilla, dark fruits.....and roasted malt. The flavour was as complex, I forget that it was beer after a couple of glasses."

"Black appearance with a small tan-coloured head. Deep sweet aroma of sweet chocolate, caramel, vanilla, coconut and sappy figs. Smooth and sweet (but not overly so) flavour of cocoa, vanilla, blue plums, caramel and sweet chocolate. Long finish with a subtle bitterness of chocolate but the sweet flavours of cocoa, vanilla and caramel dominates. "

"Draught@SBWF2007. Deep ruby reddish brown colour with mediumsized beige head. Aroma is very sweet chocolate, caramel, slightly alcoholic, and madeiraish. Flavour is fruity hops, roasted malts, chocolate, coffee and some cocoa. Really pleasant and wellbalanced brew. "
