"This is one of the best Imperial Stouts that Canada has to offer. A very complex brew from one of Canada's finest craft brewers. The aroma has hints of roasted malt and a ton of cocoa. These flavours come through the taste as well. "

"07.09.05 tap at brewpub, RBSG. Black with dark brown head. Aroma is big coffee but also tons of dark, bittersweet chocolate. It’s all creamy love, no overhopped hate. Thick, extra creamy, very, very, very nice all-around brew. Maybe the best balanced impy stout I’ve ever had. Some toasted marshmallow. This is the little brother of Sam Smith’s Impy Stout that’s all grown up and kicking big bro’s butt. For me, it throws a big beat down on Peche Mortel, too. Wow, the highlight of my summer of 2005!"

"Poured an opaque black color with a medium sized, tan, creamy head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of sweet chocolate, roast, and vanilla beans. Taste of sweet chocolate, roasted malts, vanilla, and light hops, with a creamy mouthfeel. In a side by side tasting, this falls just short of Peche Mortel, but it is still a nice impy stout."

[4] Review by Phil B from Gatineau, Canada who has tried this beer once. (6/6/2005 3:12:24 PM)
"Sample at the Mondiale 2005: Poured a pitch black color stout with no head or carbonation. Aroma of roasted malt with strong coffee also easily recognisable. Taste is totally dominated by coffee with some subtle vanilla note. Body is quite full and alcohol is well hidden. Nice though DDC can do much better."
