The Rosée d’Hibiscus is a soft spoken wheat beer. The rose colour comes from the hibiscus flowers added during the brewing process. The aromas and flavour of this tropical flower are very prominent in the beer, giving it a slight acidity and a very agreeable fragrance. It is the perfect thirst quencher on a hot summer day. This beer won a gold medal (fifth place amongst 10 gold medal winners) at the adjudicated "MBeer" contest during the Mondial de la Bière in Montréal in 2007, and a silver medal in the 2008 Popular Beer Contest during the Mondial de la Bière in Montréal. The Pinkish Hibiscus was born in our Montreal brewpub in May 2006. This beer is also brewed and bottled at our St-Jérôme microbrewery.

"Bottle from statelineliquors.com. Pour was pink shaded golden, nice carbonated head (like soda-pop, though), spotty lacing (like soda), not impressive looking other than the interesting color (but which didn't look like a beer). The aroma was fruity cherry roses, slight spicing. The flavor was like a spiced, lightly hopped standard belgian ale with fruity notes (cherries, like cherry 7up in some ways), more spices, a fruity-spiced belgian ale type of brew. I so much love the standard belgian ales (not strong) these days, this was an interesting twist, a bit too spicey for my liking, floral notes decent. The mouthfeel was light (not enough body, filtered the yeast?), carbonated, and substantially acidic. A nice brew, but it fell short of being great. Has enough potential, though, to be great - more body, slightly less spicing!"

"Very floral and perfume smelling as I pour this beer into my 25cl tulip glass. The beer forms a three-finger thick, pink/beige tinged, off-white colored head. The beer is a bright red color that shows a somewhat hazy, deeply red tinged, gold color when held up to the light. Aromas of wheat add a nice graininess and even a touch of tartness, there is also a light, tart, berry like note here as well as the floral / perfume aromatic notes.
The beer tastes tart from both the wheat and the hibiscus; it finishes with a touch more tartness that lingers a bit on the tongue. A persistent carbonation adds some zippy texture that, along with the fairly light body, make this quite a quaffable brew. The wheat contributes a grassy grain note as well as a whole-grain cracker flavor and dryness. A touch of berry flavors in the finish, a light herbal note, a touch of pot pourri, perhaps a hint of lavender and even a touch of honey (though this beer is pretty dry, so it is not sweetness that makes me think of this last note).
This is a nice refreshing beer, I definitely like the hibiscus addition as it meshes well with the base beer. I will admit that it is a bit hard to pull any particular Belgian yeast character out of this beer, so in that sense this might not be the most complex beer, but I still like it."

"Bottle at tasting at Chris Fischer’s (from Liars Club) house. Pours wtih a ruby red body topped by a thin head with some lacing. It’s slightly sweet and full of floral notes with a touch of underlying bitterness. Light bodied, crisp and tingly on the tongue."

"A reddish pink color with a pinkish white head. The aroma is some citrus, raspberries, and wheats. The flavor is herbal and somewhat sour. A doughy presence to this one. Overall this was an ok beer. "

"This spiced ale pours a slightly hazy rose red color from a 33cl bottle. Small to medium sized pinkish foamy head. The aroma is floral, fruity and sweet. A medium bodied spiced ale. The malts are fruity and sweet. A touch spicy and somewhat floral tasting, the hibiscus flowers add a very interesting acidity and spiciness to this beer. Very interesting beer. Light and refreshing, it would make a great summer session beer. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is crisp and dry. Aftertaste is slightly bitter and tart. "
