"Part of a winter sampler, it's a fairly nice Dunkel. Not much involved in the bland aroma, some faint caramel is present along with a metallic tinge. Dark murky pour with a half-inch vibrant tan head and spotty lacing. Very drinkable, clean with a nice aftertaste along with a mild bitterness. Flavor is subdued brown sugar and caramel malt, toffee and buttered toast. Lightly hopped with a nice balance."

"Well, this is my 500th beer review and it is nothing special, oh well; the label is even boring. My god, the aroma is complete skunk, seriously, I cannot make out anything else. The appearance is a reddish to burgundy in color with a nice head on top that is tan in color and remains on the top throughout consumption. The mouthfeel is medium in body and has decent complexity as well as balance with a watery pallet. The flavor is not bad, considering the mammoth amount of skunk that slapped me in the face when I opened this one up, and is of roasty malts and maybe some slight caramel with an aftertaste that is smooth and malty with a finish that is slightly bitter and is smooth. Overall, this is just an average brew with nice color with an aroma that is like a dead skunk that just got hit by a school bus. I was hoping to have a great brew for this milestone but oh well, there always is tomorrow with other awesome brews out there to try. I think I am going to celebrate and commemorate my 500th review with one of my Thomas Hardy's barleywines I am aging; that will leave me with two still in storage and I want to buy another four pack anyway. 500 reviews here and gone just like that, my my, where has the time gone?"

"My first beer after a rather extended bout fighting off a cold, I figured it would be best to start off with something rather calm and routine (vice the hop-mosters and >8%ABV Holiday beers that take up the majority of the spaces in my `fridge). And while this went fairly well with the tuna fish sandwich I had for a late lunch on Christmas Eve, it's overall merits are still rather dubious.
Ruddy brown in appearence, with highlights of red when held up to the light. Miniscule head, with even weaker head retention. No lace.
Adequate aroma, with hint of roastiness here and there. Reminds me of the cans of cold vending machine coffee you can buy on seemingly every other street corner in Japan. That is to say, slightly synthetic and disconcerting, overall.
It's only in the flavor department that this beer starts to show any sort of character. Reasonably user-friendly and approachable, that went well with my sandwich. But I seriously suspect that by itself, this beer's flavor profile would be a snoozer.
The mouthfeel and overall drinkability are really nothing to get excited about, to be honest. Passably filling in the mouth, and easy enough to drink. But since this is really quite dull overall, I can't see really wanting to drink this very much.
I was prepared to immeidately go off on a crude tangent with this beer's name, since "dinkel" was a Kindergraden expression for using the restroom when I was growing up. I believe me, I would have loved to equate this beer with urination. But in all fairness, it's not *that* bad. It's just so boringly paint-by-numbers that I even a small 12-oz sampling is more than enough...

"Nothing about this beer was outstanding. Poured a deep ruby red with sufficient off-white head. Laced well. Aroma was malty and sweet. Malty flavor with hops noticable. A very average brew. I'd drink it again, but wouldn't pay for it. "
