The latest release from the brewery inside Dogfish Head Brewings & Eats (Rehoboth Beach), Blood Orange Heffeweizen. This beer was featured in Dogfish Head founder Sam Calagione's book "Extreme Brewing."
The beer is about 5.5% abv with approximately 30 IBUs.
The brew is composed of 55% Wheat Malt, 45% Pilsner Malt and hopped exclusively with Ahtanum Hops. A total of 180 Blood oranges in the form of rinds, juice and pulp were added to the whirlpool, during fermentation and post fermentation.
This beer will be served exclusively at the pub and featured at the November 2006 Fancy Beer Dinner. Come and get it while it lasts!
