Bold, yet smooth! Fermented with dates and figs, this bone-crusher has a completely unique flavor.

"Very fun brew from DFH. High in ABV and you can tell the minute you open it in pour into a glass. Not a hop bomb like some of theses beers are. Very stone fruity and malty.. Good Brew"

"VERY smooth. you can taste the dates and figs in the malty sweetness. almost no hops to speak of, and therefore not a very well balanced beer. More for the english style fans than west coast. strong, but smooth, as the 15% abv warms your belly."

"This is a nice, bold barleywine from Dogfish Head. Clear amber color with a thin head and a little lacing which was nice considering the high abv. Sweet caramel, toffee and fig flavors with a rush of alcohol, sugars and spicy hops finishing it off. Very warming with some alcohol burn. At 15% abv I expect it to be hot, and it is, but not over the top. Not nearly as hoppy as I thought it might be. Perhaps the hot alcohols mask that a little. Nicely done, a relaxing sipper, and I have little doubt that this would get even better with some aging and it has mellowed a bit. "

"12 fl. oz. bottle, thanks to my son Steinar. Orange to amber coloured beer, clear first, hazy when the sediment is poured in the end. Big off-white head with an orangey hue. Strong aroma of malts with vinous notes, oak, alcohol and molasses. The flavour is intensely sweet and alcoholic, notes of oak and figs, with a certain peppery and hoppy bite which nearly disappears behind the alcoholic sweetness. You don’t expect a 15% beer to be "easy drinking", and this one certainly isn’t. Too sweet for me, still quite impressive. Would probably improve by aging."
