"better than other pumpkin ales i've tried, but that's because the others suck. this is one of DFH's weaker offerings. still pretty good. there's a bitter brown ale behind the pumpkin, but if you really like pumpkin, this one's not for you. a little underwhelming, but worth trying."

"Thanks to Bluesandbarbq for trading this to me. This is definately the most unique pumpkin ale that I've ever had. It pours a clear orange-brown color with no head. Roughly pouring the end of the bottle generated a little quick fizz. Tastes and smells more like the spices on the label (cinnamon, allspice, etc.) than pumpkin. Nevertheless, the aftertaste is straight pumpkin pie. The smell of pumpkin pie hangs in my nose for a while after I swallow, creating the feeling of being in the kitchen while its cooking. I also taste some baked apples in there, although I have no idea where that came from. All that frontloaded spice lends to an intial strange taste, but in the end, it is as it should be."

"This brew poured a dark amber with reddish-orange highlighs. Very clear with a nice tan head that lasted throughout the drink. Minimal lacing though. The aroma was mild spices: clove, cinnamon and nutmeg and sweet malt. The flavor was mild as well, decent pumpkin flavor up front with a good solid malty body, sweet brown sugar and vanilla. It finishes sweet. Mouthfeel was thin. Overall, fair brew for the season."

"This beer poured with little head, and what head it had was light and went away quickly. It's a light amber in color. There are small traces of nutmeg and pumpkin throughout but but overall was light in flavor."

"Presentation: It was poured from a brown 12oz bottle into a pint glass.
Appearance: It had a honey amber color with very good clarity. The head that was produced was light tan in color, average in size and slowly settled down to a thin covering. Lacing was spotty and it quickly slid down the glass.
Smell: The aroma was full of spicy clove, cinnamon and nutmeg.
Taste/Mouth feel: It has decent pumpkin flavor up front with a good solid malty body. Hints of sweet brown sugar, pumpkin pie spices and vanilla notes mix in well and add a good, well balanced complexity. It finishes on the sweet side and slowly with mild spicy hops and mild warmth from its 7%abv. The palate has a slick, smooth texture with medium to full body and lively carbonation.
Notes: Wow this was good. I really enjoyed the balance of flavor and judicious spicing which gives it a great drinkability.
