"An interesting offer from Dogwood, makers of one of my favorite barleywines ever. I've had the bottle for about 6 months and my neice's graduation party was a fine time to crack 'er open. The aroma on this was really tempting. Dark chocolate, roasted malts, black licorice, oxidation, molasses, and suprisingly plummy. Thick, black and coating would be a good description, which a 1" thick brown head. The flavor of this was a smidge oxidized, but not bad. What I got was a fantastic combo of peated malts, chocolate malts, molasses, coffee and very light rum notes. It was all very tasty and I'm happy that I got to share this with a few others who really enjoyed it too. "

"I have to admit, I'm not really sure what makes a Porter an Imperial Porter, nor was this beer any good. This beer poured a deep dark brown with a frothy brownish head. The aroma is definitely roasted malt with hints of caramel and toffee. Some fruitish hints prevail as well like plums and sweet cherries. The flavour was very chocolaty and for me was a turn-off. I certyainly was not impressed with this beer.

"The pleasant kind of oxidized. Vinous raisin chocolate pudding and roast malt. All are strong and wonderful.
Opaque brown with a brown head.
Flavor, oh the flavors. Fudgey, oxidized, raisin. Mild bitterness.
Rich, silky, semi sweet finish.
I have no idea what this beer tasted like fresh, but aged is really f’n nice.

"Thought i would never have this one, thanks to eagle for it. Poured a dark dark brown small head. Aroma was of chocolate and expresso. MMM flavor was so perfect coffee, expected it to be thick but it wasn't, also wasn't over sweetened, very smooth. Wow darn no more :("

"Thanks to eaglefan538 for sharing! Pour was dark as night with red highlights, no head. Aroma was STRONG from even a few feet away...deep rich coffee and chocolate. Smell was also sweet from alcohol and fruits. The flavor was rich, deliciously dominated by coffee, good coffee (Peche Mortel...take notes!). The sweetness wanted to come out, but was rather subdued. An oak barrel taste was underneath, which was pleasing. Also a strong burnt flavor, but in a great way. Nice, nice beer."
