E.S.B. stands for Extra Special Bitter. This is the strongest of the English Bitters. Our E.S.B. is brewed to about the strength of our Stout with a deep amber color. We used Pale Ale Malt, Crystal Malts and Biscuit malt to give this beer a firm malt foundation. The Hop level is towards the high end, nearly equaling that of the Copperhead. We have chosen to used English hops exclusively for this beer. UK Challenger hops are used for bittering and UK Fuggle hops for dry hopping.

"I was a little worried w/ it being a ESB and all. Not much matches my bitter quotient but this one is totally different. I solute you're bitterness. It is a little flowery, but it has to be the hops. I'm okay w/ that. The poor is dark."

"From draws of Dansting's kegerator, as well. What a fine brew. Poured golden red with nice cap of eggshell head. Clean, crisp bitterness, subtle hop flavor behind slightly biscuity and nutty malt body. Well carbonated and smooth, very nice."

"Have had several of these from Dansting's kegarator. Nice amber color with a thick white head. Wonderful bitter taste, yet nicely balanced. Nice to know someone with a keg of this in their home!"

"Poured from Dansting's brand new Kegorator. Nice white head and an very nice clear amber beer. Nice hop flavor and a biting bitter ending. Once again Free State does not disappoint."

"At the brewery...Solid E.S.B. Compares favorably to Fuller’s. Hoppy like Free State’s normal Pale Ale, yet lighter with more flavor. Nice crisp bitter finish."
