"Drawn from the tap a dark amber color with a thin but long-lasting tan head. Sweet aromas of caramel malt and fruit. Full, smooth and rich on the palate. Flavors are less assertive than expected, with sweet malt, reserved hops and spice; faint bitterness in the warm finish."

"In tap:
Taps a deep chestnut color with some red highlights, modest cap, soft carbonation.
Aromas are fruity-spicy lightly sweet.
Flavaor is exceptionally discreet in its use of spices and sweet malts...lovely war soft malty sweetness mingles with a spicy-fruity background and demure kent hopping...well balanced without any of the sweetness, spice or hops overpowering the amalgam of all these flavors....franklly the best Winter ale I’ve tasted this year."

"Nice deep amber colour, medium tan head. malty aroma of caramel, toffee with touches of dried fruit. Lot’s of caramel in flavour, hints of toffee and earth with a medium bitter finish.Good balance and mouthfeel but it’s not the most exciting winter ale I’ve sampled"

"Bottled. Dark copper coloured mediumsized brown thick creamy head. Strong malty nose with hints of caramel and cookies as well as a bit of roast. Strong roasted malt in flavour along with some hops in finish. Caramellish hints also there as well as weak plummyness. Quite pleasant, but the roastflavour is a bit too aggressive. 7 6 6 8 6
Cask. Deep amber colour with mediumsized slightly off-white head. Lacing. Aroma is sweet malts, some roast, caramel, mild spices, nectar and wood. Flavour is the same with some mild licorice and dry dark fruits. Wellbalanced and pleasant. 8 8 8 8 8"

"Dark amber in color with a dense full head. Rich malty aroma invites you in to take a sip. Big, burnt malt flavor with some bittering to go along with it is delicious. Roasted, burnt toast aftertaste is a nice capper. Very good effort from Fullers here."
