Killian's Irish Red derives its distinctive red-amber color and taste from a special caramel malt that has been roasted at a high temperature longer and more slowly than most malts. There are no coloring agents or artificial additives used in brewing Killian's. The brew is known for its rich amber color and thick, creamy head.

"For a macro, this isn't too bad--at least it has some flavor. The big problem I have is when a bar considers this a "micro". If I have to pay extra, I'd rather have a real beer."

"Killians pours a nice amber body with a mid sized white cap. Mouthfeel is a little thin but not too bad. Slight flavor and aroma of roasted malt with a very slight hop bitterness. An above average macro beer."

"This beer is something I didn't expect, especially something from Coors. Rich dark color, Very unique aroma , Little head, taste is something of a spiced ale more than a lager as it is categorized here. I liked it and will drink again. And it's a happy hour beer too. "

"This brew is a rich dark amber with a very light tan moderately thick head. There's not much aroma but the flavor is nice; not too sweet and not too hoppy. For a macro beer, it's a pleasant alternative to the paler lagers available on tap in most bars in West Texas. I'd have to agree with previous reviewers--there is a huge difference between the bottled and fresh draft experiences with this beer (drink the draft)."

"Bottle: Poured a light amber color beer with an average size foamy head with average retention and no lacing. Aroma of light caramel malt is not the most complex but still somewhat enjoyable. Taste is also dominated by some medium sweet caramel malt with some limited complexity but also no adjunct as I had feared to be found. Body is about average with some OK carbonation. I guess I was surprised by this one considering the brewer but this is still not something I would seek again."
