While traveling in Belgium, we visited an abbey that was surrounded by great legends and folklore. We were lucky enough to hear their story and enjoy the great beer they brew. We wanted to share what we’d heard and tasted, so we created Matilda. Matilda is made with a rare yeast that suggests a fruity and spicy flavor. There is complex maltiness balanced with a profuse amount of hops making it a great beer to enjoy with a plate of fresh mussels.

"pours an almost honey like amber, with a nice small off white head, that hangs around. It has a nice spicey fruity aroma. Noticed a bit of a metalic taste but overall enjoyed the fruity taste. Beer was highly carbonaited but wasn't over the top. fairly enjoyable ale."

"Pours light amber with a white head, tons of lacing. Aroma is flowery and peppery. Mouth is creamy with a bit of spice. Nice hoppy floral and grassy flavor. Nice."

"Pours a hazy honey color, but just a bite of carbonation on the tongue. Presents with a definite floral, tangerine flavor that is much like many wheat beers -- a beer unto its own "

"Had this on tap at Goose Island in Chicago. Hazy dark golden color with a decent head. Aroma is fruity and spicy. Nice balance of taste between fruit and hops, with some spiciness in there too. Would definitely recommend it."

"2010 version from slowrunner via recent trade. Beautiful orange pour with a cola fizzy head that reduces to a cream lid that remains leaving sliding lacing. Very well carbonated. Sweet brown sugar and Belgian yeasts up front in the aroma with ripe fruits- light apricots, dates, oranges - and floral hops. Taste is sweet upfront, almost too sweet, with the fruits, brown sugar-ness dominant, and the Belgian yeasts and light funkiness coming through with some floral hops and alcohol. Thank you Chris for another good beer. MUSIC: "Mathilda" - The Fabulous Thunderbirds - "Mathilda I pine, pine for you, No matter what you do" "
