Double IPAs are hoppier, maltier and have more alcohol compared to their little siblings, standard IPAs. Hercules Double IPA is not for the faint of heart. It is, however, fit for the gods. Hercules Double IPA delivers a huge amount of hops from start to finish. Its hefty backbone of nutty, malt character balances its assertive hop profile. Hercules Double IPA is 9.1% alcohol by volume and 85 International Bittering Units (IBUs).

"Landed these from a trade with Fargingbastige6. A simply delicious DIPA. I love the strong IPAs that take on a heavy pine resin characteristic instead of face-scrunching grapefruit. I don't know what types of hops produce this desired piney effect, but I love it. There is a bit of a dry/bitter aftertaste. the aroma is flowers-cum-pine needles. This is truly a fabulous beer. A dark, copper color with a little foam on top. This makes two beers that I have had from Great Divide; I will have to keep trading to track down more of them. A beast; not to be taken lightly! Glad I was able to share a bottle of this with a friend."

"I have just had two pints of this on tap at lunch with a grilled chicken sandwich. Hell, I didn't need the chicken sandwich. It is simply stellar! It has, at first taste, a rather pronounced grapefruit/citrus flavor. I could drink this for breakfast with an omelet - and be in serious trouble before the meal was over. There are none better."

"Color fills the glass to an orange and partly cloudy beer. In my nose I smells some good ipa, the hops and such. Sip is really smooth, and the flavor only reinforces this smoothness with an accompaniment of full richness and simple complexity of real good beer. "

" This beer is so hoppy that when you take a sip the hops come out of your mouth and slap you in the face. If you like pale ales, this is the beer for you. It pours a copper color with a nice white head. It smells of citrus and the taste starts with grapefruit and a little sweetness, followed by the beautiful hoppy kick that makes this an Double IPA"

"Bottled on 01/22/09....sampled on 06/26/09 (10.0 ABV%):- This could be the hoppiest beer that I've had. This bottle read 10%. Has an amber color, minimal head, thick lacing. Lots of floral, piney, citrusy smell and flavor. Tastes like grapefruit juice. I wan't sure what I would expect going into this experience, but am sastified....who wouldn't be for this ABV% @ 22 oz.?? and I still have about 6-8 ounces to go!! Maybe expected the flavor to be a little less hoppy and a tad sweeter, but I am comparing it to Bell's Two Hearted Ale which I just sampled, and they are different in many ways. I might prefer the Two Hearted Ale (which is 7% and a little sweeter), or even DFH 90-minute over this. Worth the price though for sure... given the kick, and that it's a super-hop-bomb and all. "
