Great Divide's award-winning Hibernation Ale is Colorado's original strong ale-it has been our winter seasonal each year since 1995. Since that time, Hibernation has become the most sought after winter beer in Colorado. Hibernation's massive flavors are so intense that it requires over three months of aging each year. Each summer, while our brewers are still spending their weekends in flip-flops and shorts, they prepare for July's Hibernation brewing schedule.

"I could definitely see myself hibernating with this beer all winter long. An incredible beer from start to finish and in many ways reminded me of a barleywine on training wheels. Aroma is slightly oxidized, caramel, toffee, and a clear cut fruity hop profile. Appearance is dark copper in color with a nice one-finger thick off-white head. Flavor is what grabs you, with enough malt and hops to please damned near everyone. A nice roasted malt backbone but balanced out with enough sweet caramel malts and pungent hops to keep it all in check. Easy to drink and easy to enjoy. "

"Murky reddish brown colour with a long lasting yellowish beige creamy head, leaves nice lace. Aroma is nuts, plum, raisins, caramel malts, slight alcohol and a nice touch of hops. Flavour is roasted coffee, malts, some chocolate, bittering hops and slightly spicy. A very nicely warming brew, that is enormously wellbalanced. Leaves a nice roasted and hoppy aftertaste. "

"Bottle courtesy of BeerandBlues2: Poured a clear dark brown color ale with a small foamy head with better then average retention. Aroma of rich caramel malt with some medium sweetness. Taste is mix between good caramel malt with a medium bitter finish. I thought the body was a bit too thin for the style and alcohol was very well hidden. Overall, I thought it was interesting but lacking a little something to bring to the next level."
