"From a bottle. 2007 version. Pours a murkey, brown with a slight off-white head. Aroma is sweet. Prunes/raisins present. Flavor is sweet as well, almost too much. Left a stickiness in my mouth and lips like I'd drank flat soda. Prune is the dominent flavor. Slight alcohol burn at the end. Not one of HotD's best, but I'm gonna keep a bottle back and see if improves with age."

"Somebody stole my 2002 bottle,( I hope they dye a slow Death without beer) so my review will have to be based upon the 2005 bottle. Fantaxtiv burt sienna color and nice white haed that last a bit for the amount ABV. I open this bottle December 2006 to celebrate my Fiance being Pregnet. Fantastic malty and warming surgary taste with an amazing full body. Man I wish I could pop open the 2002 for the next kid"

"Year made 2005, purchased in Spokane, WA.
Pours a very hazy amber, with a very thick two finger head, that even after 15 minutes only fades to about a fingers worth of foam. The lacing is just one solid sheet of foam on the inside of my glass.
Smell; (once the foam settle enough) even after a year and a half hops are still very evident in the aroma, with some pine and citrus. Rich caramel and chocolate, with a mils touch of cherries. There's also a little vanilla and honey in the nose as well.
Taste; the piney and citric hops are present in the flavor, but they're a little more mellow than they were in the nose. Vanilla, honey and some hints of cinnamon wrap around caramel and chocolate covered apples. The finish has a bit of spiciness that I really like, and where the hell is that 10.5% abv? Oh wait, there it is, i can't read the clock across the room anymore.
Mouthfeel is full bodied and very creamy, with a dangerously high drinkability. As a matter os fact, the only thing that really hurts this one for me is the ABV. If I had more than one of these, I don't think I'd be able to walk straight, if at all."

"(2005 version). Nut brown colour with particles floating around, mediumsized creamy beige head. Aroma is about the same as Fred but has some very sweet (s sweet it’s hard to tell if it’s sour) stuff included. Flavour is alcohol, sweet caramel, yeast, lots of hops and honey. Somehow, pouring the yeast into this one seems to be a mistake, as the yeast gives very strong flavour. Alcohol does it’s "warming" in this one. Somehow, though "only" 10% Fred seemed much smoother to the flavours. And no, it is not bad even though I write some "negative" things in the rating. "
